BRIAM : workshops & concerts

Kopanica asbl/vzw is proud to introduce you to the BRIAM Project: Bridges across the Mediterranean.

Teachers from Greece & Spain will guide students in playing traditional instruments and exploring musical styles that resonate across our countries.

This first session of workshops will be given by Kyriakos Gouventas and Christos Barbas in Anderlecht (Belgium)

Content :

Christos Barbas will be teaching a workshop on contemporary compositions in Modal Music. Through playing and studying together different pieces from contemporary composers the class will focus on how different modes, rhythms and musical forms can give rise to new pieces and new music. Through guided exercises and music analisis participants will gain a deeper understanding of how different modal compositions function and how they can create their own pieces. This workshop is suitable for musicians and composers of all levels and backgrounds who have an interest in exploring composition in modal music. It is recommended that participants have a good level of reading scores.

Kyriakos Gouventas will focus on the music in Aegean sea, the connections with the modes; expression and ornamentions ; free but mandatory registration from 15.12.2024 by email to kopanica@live.be
